Curd From Start
Many a times, I encounter this issue of not having a live culture to make curd at home. This happens mainly when we are out of our home for a long duration and when we come back, the old curd is too sour or doesn’t taste that good or I run out of old curd. Every time you cannot borrow it from your neighbour, isn’t it? So the best option is to make it yourself at home right from scratch.
All you need is a fresh green chilly and 2-3 tbsp of warm milk and some few hours of patience.
Ingredients:
- Green chilly 1
- Warm milk 1 1/2 cup
Method:
- Remove the stem of the green chilly and soak it in a bowl containing 1/4 cup of warm milk.
- Cover and keep it aside for 8-10 hours or till it sets.
- Take one teaspoon from this and add it to another bowl containing 1/4 cup warm milk. This culture might have a slight chilli taste.
- Cover and keep this aside till it sets.
- Now this culture will not have any chilli taste or whatsoever.
- Use it to make curd. Just take a teaspoon of this and add it to one cup of warm milk.
- Cover and keep aside till it sets. Yummy thick curd is ready to use.
Such a helpful tips. Thanks Di
