Dora Cake (Dorayaki)
Just posting these for mommies with tiny tots . Surely one of kid’s favourite, the Dora cakes aka Dorayaki is actually a pancake. Every mom who has a small kid would be familiar with these cakes. Yes, you guessed it right ! These are Doraemon’s favourite cakes. My twelve year old still enjoys watching Doraemon. Here is a simple eggless and healthier version of these Japanese cakes. Hope you moms out there will try these at home.
Ingredients:
- Whole wheat flour 1/2 cup
- Apf/Maida 1/2 cup
- Salt a pinch
- Sugar 1 tbsp
- Milk 1/2 cup or more
- Condensed milk 2 tbsp
- Nutella 2 tbsp or more
Method:
- Mix sugar, milk and condensed milk till it is smooth.
- Slowly add the flour mixture and salt to the milk and fold it lightly using a spatula. Do not over mix.
- Grease heavy bottom non stick pan and pour a spoonful of batter. It will spread to form a disk.
- Sprinkle little butter from the sides. Flip and cook on the other side too.
- Remove from stove and allow it to cool. Repeat with the remaining batter.
- Take one pancake and apply Nutella or chocospread or pipe out choco Ganache on it evenly and cover it with another pancake.
- Yummy and easy peasy Dora cakes are ready. Serve it warm.
Notes:
- For an egg version, replace condensed milk with an egg.
- To make condensed milk at home, simply reduce 1/2 litre full cream milk with little sugar over medium flame till its nice, thick and creamy and half the quantity. Stir continuously.
- To make chocolate Ganache, gently simmer 1/2 cup fresh cream or whipping cream/heavy cream and pour it over 1 cup chocolate pieces and mix well. Make sure it is smooth and lump free. Allow it to cool at room temperature.
