Home made Mayo
Its not very easy to please my hubby and Neha. Their taste buds are quite well developed and though they both happily eat whatever I make for them, but when it comes to some peculiar tastes, they both have very strong opinions. I am a person who likes to recreate restaurant things at home and believes that most restaurant stuffs can be made at home and that too in a more healthier and economic manner. I am ready to compromise a bit on that perfect restaurant touch. I have been trying to make mayonnaise at home since some time. Difficult to get the perfect texture. But somehow this turned out to be quite good. Neha and hubby declared that it tasted better than store bought mayo.
Ingredients:
- Cornflour 1 tbsp
- Salt as reqd
- Sugar a pinch
- Lemon juice 1 tbsp
- Milk 1-2 tbsp
- Olive oil 1-2 tbsp
- Water 1/4 cup
- Garlic 2 cloves finely chopped
- Parsley a small sprig
Method:
- Mix cornflour and water and cook it till it thickens like custard.
- Stir it continuously so that no lumps are formed. Allow it to cool.
- Beat it along with finely chopped garlic, salt, sugar, lime juice in a mixer or food processor till a nice homogeneous mixture is formed.
- Keep adding the oil and milk in a thin stream till you get a nice milky whipped cream like consistency.
- Garnish with parsley or coriander leaves.
- Yummy dip is ready.
Notes:
- Serve it with pita bread or any veg or non veg barbeque.
- Use it to apply on your buns while assembling a burger.
