Coconut Chutney-1
This is the most common coconut chutney served with idli/dosa. Now, some of you might wonder why am I adding such basic recipes in my blog, which everyone might be knowing. But I am sure, there might be one or two of you who is new to the kitchen and might not be very sure of how to make these 🙂
Ingredients:
- Fresh coconut 1/2 cup
- Green chillies/ Red chillies 2 or more
- Ginger 1/2 inch piece
- Cashew nut 3-4 / split roasted bengal gram 1 tsp
- Salt to taste
- Mustard seeds 1/2 tsp
- Curry leaves 1 sprig
- Oil 1 tsp
Method:
- Scrape the coconut and grind it in a mixer with chillies, ginger, cashew nuts or split roasted Bengal gram and salt.
- Heat oil in a small pan and crackle the mustard seeds and add the curry leaves. Pour the ground coconut mixture into the pan and cook for less than a minute.
- Enjoy it with idli/dosa, pongal or vada.
Hi Pradeepa, How about adding some hing powder while doing the seasoning? It sure enchances the taste of this chutney.
