Mixed flakes Mixture
As I always say, Neha and hubby doesn’t like to munch on snacks. So, neither I stock on such snacks nor I prepare these at home. On the other hand, my mom even at this age, ( No, no she is not very old and is very young at heart too :)) enjoys making snacks of all types. I am usually very reluctant to make deep fried goods and mostly refrain from doing so. And Diwali means usually deep fried goodies. Being brought up in Mumbai, I
am used to making Diwali goodies at home. But with no takers at home, I am forced to curb my temptation to make them. I had this wheat flakes which amma gave me when I met her and wanted to try something with it.
So, here is a healthy crunchy munchy delight with loads of wheat flakes, corn flakes and barley flakes along with dry fruits. I have used only a spoonful of oil. Its perfect with your evening masala chai. I have made a big batch for my father in law and both mil and fil liked it 🙂 Feel free to add or omit any ingredients. Just pick ideas from recipes and use your intuition to build it up. I have used a 240 ml cup. If you do not have Barley flakes, please skip it. You may add puffed rice or makhana or ragi/Jowar flakes to make it more healthy. This is an inviting variation after all the Diwali sweets 🙂
Ingredients:
- Cornflakes 2 cups
- Wheat flakes 3 cups
- Barley flakes 1 cup
- Salt to taste

- Cashews 18-20
- Peanuts 1/4 cup
- Sultanas 20-25

- Cut the almonds and cashews into halves.
- Now heat oil in a big wide pan and add the roasted peanuts, chopped almonds and cashews into it.
- Sprinkle salt, turmeric powder and red chili to it.
- Now add the sultanas and curry leaves to it and saute till the curry leaves become crisp in texture.
- Add these to the roasted flakes and mix well.
- Sprinkle some powdered sugar to the mixture.
- Store in airtight containers and enjoy with your evening tea or coffee.
