Raw Banana Tikki
My family loves cutlets and tikkis. So, I keep experimenting with various ingredients. You can find a list of such recipes here. Raw plantain is a good source of vitamin B6, minerals and antioxidants. The soluble fibre content keeps intestinal ailments at bay. So raw plantain is always a staple vegetable at our place. I use it in curries, avial and many other dishes. I usually add it in kebabs or cutlets in place
of potatoes. Here is once such recipe which goes very well along with your burger buns. Please do try it and share your feedback.
You may add other vegetables like grated carrot, finely chopped beans, boiled green peas and so on. Try baking it in a preheated oven at 170-180 degree Celsius for around 30-35 minutes. It pairs perfectly with curd-mint dip.
Ingredients:
- Boiled potato 1
- Raw Plantain 1
- Salt to taste
- Boiled corn 2 tbsp
- Onion 1
- Green chilies 1-2
- Red chili powder 1 tsp
- Chat masala 1 tsp
- Coriander powder 1 tsp
- Mint leaves handful
- Bread slices 1-2
- Bread crumbs as required
- Oil for shallow frying
Method:
- Steam the raw plantain along with the skin till it’s fully cooked.
- Mash the raw plantain and boiled potato and transfer into a bowl.
- Add chopped onion, green chilies, salt, finely chopped mint leaves and mix.
- Now add the red chili powder, coriander powder and chat masala. Mix it well.
- Add fresh bread crumbs and knead into a dough.
- Make balls of equal size and coat it with dry bread crumbs.
- Refrigerate these tikkis or cutlets for 15-20 minutes.
- Shallow fry them till they are golden on both sides.
- Serve it hot with a dip or chutney of your choice of use it to make burger buns.
