Mozzarella Bites
I really don’t think that these yummy mozarella bites need any introduction. These are simply delicious and oh! so very cheesy. Dip it in your favourite sauce or chutney and enjoy with your family. Neha has been asking me to make this since few days, but I was a bit hesitant thinking of all the amount of cheese and oil involved. But as I always say, one should
try everything atleast once 🙂 These are perfect for a rainy day evening snack. These are absolutely melt in the mouth kinds.
I have used Go brand mozzarella cheese bar. You may cut it into long strips or into bite size pieces. Refrigerating or rather freezing the cheese cubes once they are dipped in the batter and coated with bread crumbs for atleast half an hour is absolutely necessary. Please do not skip this step. Also do not let these thaw for a long time on the counter. They become soft and starts melting in the hot oil. If you are egg eaters, you can first coat the cheese pieces in one beaten egg mixture and then coat it with a dry mixture of flour, salt and other seasonings. You may repeat the process for a thick coating. You may also try baking these at around 170-180 degree Celsius in a preheated oven for around 10-12 minutes. Take care that the cheese should not start melting.
Ingredients:
- Mozzarella cheese 1 bar
- Salt to taste
- Cornflour 1 tbsp
- All purpose flour 1 tbsp
- Red chili flakes as required
- Oregano 1 tsp
- Garlic powder 1/2 tsp (optional)
- Chopped coriander leaves 2 tsp
- Bread crumbs as required
- Refined oil for frying
Method:
- Cut the mozzarella cheese into bite size pieces.
- Freeze these in an airtight container for atleast half an hour.
- Mix cornflour, all purpose flour, salt, red chili flakes, oregano, garlic powder and finely chopped leaves in a bowl.
- Add water and make a medium thick paste.
- Once the cheese pieces are adequately firm, first dip them in the prepared mixture and coat it with bread crumbs.
- Repeat it once more. Once all the cheese pieces are coated with bread crumbs, refrigerate or freeze them again for atleast 20 minutes.
- Heat oil in a kadhai and deep fry them on medium to high heat till its golden in colour.
- Do not let the cheese bars to thaw outside for long.
- Serve them hot with any dip or sauce of your choice.
