Banana Paratha
We often face this issue of having excess over ripe bananas in our kitchen, isn’t it? What we usually do is make some kind of banana bread or banana cake or cupcakes. So, this time, I thought of trying out something different from these usual cakes and muffins. Here is a simple paratha recipe
made with mashed bananas and whole wheat flour. It’s a very simple recipe and you get really soft and fluffy parathas.
All you need to do is to knead the flour using the mashed bananas, add some jaggery powder and cardamom powder. Make parathas like we usually make. Drizzle ghee over it and yummy parathas are ready. Enjoy it hot. For a variation, you can add some cocoa powder to the dough. Or stuff it with some mashed khoya and dry fruits. You can even add some grated coconut to the flour before kneading. I have used a 240 ml cup.
Ingredients:
- Ripe bananas 3-4
- Whole wheat flour 2 cups
- Salt a pinch
- Jaggery powder 1-2 tbsp
- Cardamom powder 1 tsp
- Ghee as required
Method:
- Peel the bananas and mash it with a fork.
- Add the whole wheat flour, jaggery powder, a pinch of salt and cardamom powder to the mashed banana.
- Start kneading the flour. Sprinkle some milk or water if the dough is too dry.
- Apply some ghee or oil to the dough and knead for a minute or two.
- Place the kneaded dough in a bowl and cover with a moist muslin cloth.
- Allow the dough to rest for atleast 15-20 minutes.
- Take small portion of the dough and roll it using some flour.
- Apply athin layer of ghee and fold it and roll again.
- Heat a skillet or tawa and cook the parathas till they are golden on both sides.
- Drizzle both sides with generous helping of ghee.
- Serve it hot with a drizzle of maple syrup or honey or golden syrup or chocolate syrup. The choice is yours 🙂
