Ghond ka laddu (winter special)
I had made these healthy laddoos more than a month back. But somehow, I forgot to click pictures and hence could never update the recipe in the blog. However, I had reserved some part of the dry ingredients in the refrigerator. So, today I have assembled it into these kutti kutti laddoos. Its power packed with whole lot of nutrients. Feel free to use any dry fruits and nuts of your choice. It’s quite
healthy and a single laddoo can give you a lot of energy.
Ghond or edible gum has been used since ancient times. Ghond laddoos or panjiri are made during harsh winters to give the much needed heat to the body. It’s also given to ladies post pregnancy for the well being and good health of the new mom and it is also believed to increase breast milk. Ghond is rich in calcium, magnesium and is a rich source of protein. It increases the immunity of the body and protects it from cold and cough. Just make sure to deep fry it in small batches in hot ghee. People often fry some whole wheat flour and add it to the dry fruits. This helps to bind the laddoos together firmly.
Ingredients:
- Grated coconut 100 gm
- Ghond/dink/edible gum 100 gm
- Cashew 25 gm
- Walnuts 25 gm
- Almonds 100 gm
- Dates 100 gm
- Raisins 50 gm
- Flax seeds 25 gm
- Sesame seeds 2 tbsp
- Ghee 2-3 tbsp
- Jaggery powder 2 tbsp
Method:
- Measure all dry fruits and keep them aside.
- Dry roast the flax seeds for 3-4 minutes. Crush them coarsely.
- Now roast the cashew, almonds and walnuts. Pulse them too coarsely.
- Roast the grated coconut and sesame seeds for 2-3 minutes.
- Chop the raisins into small pieces.
- Crush the dates into a semi smooth paste.
- Add 2-3 tablespoon of ghee into the pan and fry the gond in small batches (3-4) till it puffs up fully.
- Crush them into a powder.
- Mix 2 tablespoon of jaggery powder with a tablespoon of water. Cook for 2 minutes.
- Add this to the dry fruit mixture and mix well.
- Make small laddoos and store it in airtight containers.
