Vanilla choco marble cake
Marble cake has a charm of its own, isn’t it? It looks much more beautiful than a plain vanilla or chocolate cake. Made these yesterday for hubby’s cousin and his family. Came out super moist and delicious. Perfect with a cup of tea or coffee or to pack in your kids snack box. I have used a 240 ml cup size. Be creative and make different patterns 🙂 This measure is perfect for 3 small loaf pans or for an eight round cake tin or a seven inch square tin.
Ingredients:
- All purpose flour 200 gm
- Salt a pinch
- Baking powder 1/2 tsp
- Baking soda 1/2 tsp
- Brown sugar 125 gm
- Cocoa powder 2 tbsp
- Milk 1 cup
- Vinegar 2 tsp
- Vanilla extract 1 tsp
- Oil 100 ml
Method:
- Mix the milk and vinegar and keep it aside for 5 minutes. Your buttermilk will be ready.
- Preheat the oven at 150-160 degree Celsius for atleast 10 minutes.
- Grease an eight inch round tin (or here I have used 3 small loaf pans) with butter and dust it with flour. Tap the excess flour and keep the tin/tins ready.
- Sieve the flour, salt and the rising agents 2-3 times.
- Sieve the cocoa powder separately and place it in a small mixing bowl. Add a spoon of the sugar (the measured sugar) to it.
- Now add the remaining sugar and oil to the prepared buttermilk and mix till the sugar dissolves.
- Now add the extract and mix well.
- Place the flour mixture in a big mixing bowl and slowly add the liquid ingredients to it. Fold it gently.
- Mix till there are no lumps. Do not stir vigorously.
- Now take 2 big spoons or more of this mixture to the cocoa powder and mix. Add a spoon of milk or water if the mixture appears too dry.
- Now pour some of the vanilla batter into the tin and then pour some of the cocoa mixture into it. Make some swirls with a toothpick so that you get a marbled texture.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes in case of the 8 inch cake tin or for 23-26 minutes for the small loaf tin or till a toothpick inserted into the centre comes out clean.
- Take the tin out of the oven and allow the tin/tins to cool for 4-6 minutes.
- Transfer the cake gently onto a wire rack and cool well.
- Slice and serve with a cup of tea/coffee or milk.
- Super soft, moist and delicious marble tea cakes are ready.
