Tahini n Hummus
Everytime I make these at home, either I forget to note down the measurements of ingredients or forget to click pictures. But this I decided to do both and here is my version of a very simple tahini paste and hummus. Hummus is actually a very healthy dip with the goodness and protein of chickpeas. Its an ideal dip with sliced vegetables or bread sticks.
Ingredients:
For the Tahini:
- Unpolished sesame seeds 2 tbsp
- Olive oil 1-2 tbsp
- Salt a pinch
For the hummus:
- Tahini paste 1 tbsp
- Cooked chickpeas 1/2 cup
- Garlic 1-2 cloves
- Olive oil 1-2 tbsp
- Paprika/red chili powder for garnish
- Lime juice 1-2 tsp
Method:
To make Tahini:
- Pulse together the sesame seeds, salt and the oil in a blender.
- Scrape the sides of the mixer and blend everything into a fine and smooth paste.
- Store in airtight containers. This will last for more than a month inside the refrigerator.
- Use it to make hummus or use as a dip.
To make hummus:
- Drain the water from the cooked chickpeas.
- Add tahini paste and lime juice in a clean mixer jar and pulse for few seconds.
- Now add the chickpeas, garlic and salt and pulse for a minute.
- Scrape the sides and add oil and pulse again.
- If the mixture appears very dry, add 1-2 tablespoon of warm water and pulse again till you get a smooth paste.
- Garnish with paprika powder and few drops of olive oil
- Store in airtight containers in the refrigerator.
- Use it with pita bread or use a dip for picked carrots, beetroot or cucumber or use it with lavash or bread sticks.
