How to make sour cream
I am sure many of you would have come across various cake recipes which calls for sour cream, isn’t it? Well its absolutely simple to make it at home with just 2 ingredients. All you need is some fresh cream and vinegar or fresh lemon juice. Sour cream can be used as an egg replacement and to increase the softness and moisture in cakes. Just make it at home and try all those recipes which you have been postponing till now 🙂
Ingredients:
- Fresh cream 100 gm
- Lemon juice/vinegar 1 tsp
Method:
- Take the measured amount of fresh cream in a clean and dry container, preferably a glass jar.
- Add a teaspoon of vinegar or lemon juice to it and mix well.
- Keep it covered with a muslin/cheese cloth (this will help it to breathe and yield a more flavourful sour cream) at room temperature for around 24 hours till it is fully set.
- Mix it well and close it with a tight lid.
- Refrigerate and use it in cakes or serve it along nachos or as a topping.
- It stays fresh for 8-10 days.
