Halloween Witch Finger Cookies
Happy Halloween to all my friends, well wishers and followers. North East monsoon has set in Chennai and have started with a real bang. It has been raining continuously since yesterday and there is water logged in at all places. The Government has declared holiday for all schools and so Neha is at home today. Made these Halloween witch finger cookies, all shaped and designed by my little one. Dipped the baked cookies in mixed fruit jam for a blood stained nail look. As I wrote in the Facebook group, our witch looks from a nice “khate Peete” ghar ka 🙂 Her fingers are pretty “golu-molu” and as some of my friends mentioned, they look properly manicured and well groomed 🙂 I have used a 240 ml cup.
Ingredients:
- All purpose flour 90 gm
- Cornflour 10 gm
- Butter 56 gm (1/4 cup)
- Salt a pinch
- Sugar 50 gm (1/4 cup)
- Vanilla extract 1/2 tsp
- Jam 1-2 tsp
Method:
- Powder the sugar till it is fine.
- Cream the butter and sugar till it is soft and light. Add the vanilla extract to it and mix well.
- Sieve the flour, salt and cornflour.
- Add this to the butter mixture and combine to form a dough. Do not knead hard. If the dough looks dry, add a teaspoon of butter.
- Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
- Make small balls from the cookie dough and shape them in to long cylinders of approximately 3-4 inches in length.
- Make marks on it with a knife so that it resemble a finger and shape the edge like nails.
- Arrange these slightly apart on a baking tray and keep the tray in the fridge for 10-15 minutes till it firms up a bit and do not spread much while baking.
- Preheat the oven at 150-160 degree Celsius for atleast 10 minutes.
- Bake the cookies for 12-15 minutes or till the base looks pale golden.
- Remove these from the oven and allow it to cool in the tray for 4-5 minutes.
- Transfer onto a cooling rack and allow it to cool well.
- Dip the tip in a red coloured jam and enjoy these creepy looking cookies. Happy Halloween 🙂
