Horlicks cookies
The more I bake, the more confident I am getting at it. Baking cookies and distributing it to my loved ones is something that I will enjoy the most. I was planning to bake some cookies for my relatives and was contemplating which flavours to choose. My blog has more than 30 cookies already and I was getting greedy and was itching to add a few more to the list. So made up my mind and decided to try something different than what I have baked till now.
As you all might be aware, I have already used various flavours of Complan to make cookies. So this time around it has to be Horlicks. I always buy and stock Horlicks at my place and some nights after dinner or during mid morning on weekends, myself and hubby relish a cup of it. Neha doesn’t like it, but then, she doesn’t like any such drinks. One of my uncle is quite fond on Horlicks and loves to eat a spoon or two just like that after a meal. So these cookies are specially for him. Hope he likes it.
I have as usual used a 240 ml cup.
Ingredients:
- All purpose flour 100 gm
- Plain Horlicks 4 tbsp (60 gm)
- Brown sugar 1/4 cup
- Butter 75-80 gm
- Butterscotch essence 1/2 tsp
Method:
- Mix the flour and Horlicks thoroughly.
- Cream the butter and sugar till it is soft and fluffy.
- Add the butter Scotch essence to this.
- Add the flour mixture to the butter and mix. Combine to form a dough.
- Line a baking tray with parchment paper and shape cookies and place them on the tray leaving some space between 2 cookies.
- Place the tray in the refrigerator and allow it to cool for 10-15 minutes.
- Meanwhile, preheat the oven at 160 degree Celsius for 10 minutes.
- Bake the cookies for 12-13 minutes or till it appears golden.
- Remove from the oven and allow it to remain in the tray for 3-4 minutes.
- Transfer on to a cooling rack and allow it to cool well.
- Store in airtight containers.
Notes:
- I have used a Russian nozzle for stamping the cookies. You can use toothpick or fork or any other objects for making indentations on the cookies.
- I have used plain Horlicks, you can chose any other flavours too.
- The malt in the Horlicks, the brown sugar and butter together gives it a fantastic flavour. Please do try and share your feedback. It will be highly appreciated.
Great recipe ! Worked out really well! Thanks a lot ! ♥️
Thanks Katherine
Can we use oil instead of butter for the cookies ?
Sorry no. I always use butter for cookies
