Moringa Powder
I always knew that Moringa /drumstick leaves are very very healthy and is an excellent source of iron and vitamin A. I love the curry which my mom used to make with Moringa leaves and dal. It is given to lactating mothers for increase in milk secretion too. We sprinkle moringa leaves on top of adai and dosa for added taste and nutritional value.
Little did I know that these leaves can be dried and powdered for longer shelf life and can be added to bread flour. Also one can make Moringa tea and sprinkle it on salads and soups. Two weeks back when I went to my in laws place, I got a big bunch of these leaves from an aunt’s house. As per my mother in law’s suggestion, I separated the leaves from the stalk and petiole during the long car journey.
On reaching home, I washed the leaves 2-3 times and spread it on a clean towel. I kept it on my dining table for the next 4-5 days. By then it was fully dried and I could nicely powder it in my mixer. Never knew it is so simple and easy. I shall soon use it in my bread and share the feedback with you all.
