Tomato chutney-2
One more simple and easy-peasy tomato chutney. Ideal when you make idli/dosa and suddenly the power goes off and you worry how to make coconut chutney now.
Ingredients:
- Onion 2 medium
- Tomatoes 3 medium
- Green chillies 1-2
- Salt as required
- Sugar a pinch
- Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
- Red chilli powder 2 tsp
- Curry leaves 2 sprigs
- Mustard seeds 1/2 tsp
Method:
- Finely chop or slice the onions and tomatoes and keep aside.
- Take oil in a kadhai and add mustard seeds. Then they splutter, add the curry leaves.
- Saute the onions and green chillies till it is translucent.
- Add the turmeric powder, chilli powder and stir well.
- Add the tomatoes and mix. Close the kadhai with a lid and let the onions and tomatoes cook in their own juices. If needed, add a spoon of water.
- When its cooked, add salt and a pinch of sugar.
- If you want it more runny add some more water.
Notes:
- This goes well with idli/dosa, appam, chapati, rice etc.
