Eggless Whole Wheat Waffle
During this Valentine’s day I decided to buy some gifts for my favourite people 🙂 And this is what I bought for my sister. This cute looking mini waffle maker from Amazon. Isn’t this a beauty? So far, we are very happy with it and she has been regularly making waffles at home. This weekend I told her to leave it at my place so that I can come up with my version of the chocolate waffle. It’s super easy and tastes amazing. There is absolutely no wheaty flavour and it tastes delicious with our home made chocolate sauce or Nutella.
This is perfect for a set of four waffles. Serve it with chocolate sauce, a dollop of ice cream and some fresh berries. Enjoy these and serve it to your little ones without any guilt 🙂 As always, I have used a 240 ml cup. Ingredients:
- Wholewheat flour 65 gm (1/2 cup)
- Cornflour 1 tbsp
- Cocoa powder 1 tbsp
- Salt a pinch
- Vanilla extract 1 tsp
- Sugar/jaggery powder 3 tbsp
- Melted butter 2 tbsp
- Milk 100 ml
- Baking powder 1/2 tsp
Method:
- Sieve the flour, cornflour, cocoa powder, salt and baking powder for two times.
- Mix the melted butter, milk and sugar till the sugar is completely dissolved.
- Add the vanilla extract and combine.
- Now add the dry ingredients into the liquid and fold to form a lump free batter.
- Take a waffle maker and preheat it till the light goes off.
- Now brush both the sides with butter.
- Pour around two tablespoons of the batter and close it. Cook till the light goes off.
- Carefully remove the cooked waffle from the waffle maker and place it on a wire rack.
- Repeat with the entire batter.
- Serve it hot with chocolate sauce or maple syrup with a dollop of vanilla ice-cream and fresh berries.
- Or you may apply a thick layer of Nutella and sandwich between two waffles.
- Enjoy it warm 🙂
Notes:
- The above recipe gives 4 circular waffles of 4 inches in diameter.
- You may place the cooked waffles on a wire rack in an oven heated to around 80-100 degree Celsius incase you are making a big batch of waffles.
- Skip the cocoa powder and reduce the milk by 1 tbsp and make vanilla waffles using the same recipe.
- You may also use one fourth cup of all purpose flour and one fourth cup of whole wheat flour.
- If you like a sweeter waffle, please increase the amount of sugar by a tablespoon or so.
