Instant Mawa (using milk powder)
Mawa or khoya is a core ingredient in many Indian sweets. Traditionally mawa is made by reducing the milk by simmering it on low flame for a longer period of time. And you can find a recipe of the same by clicking here. However, its always handy and helpful to know a quicker and instant version of making mawa at home, isn’t it? So, here is a five minute recipe which
gives you very soft and yummy mawa. All you need is some milk powder (which I am sure is found in most of the houses), little ghee or butter and some milk. Though the purists can say that this is no match for the traditionally made mawa, but trust me, this is quite good. Moreover, it’s definitely better than store bought mawa.
I have used a 240 ml cup. Use a thick flat nonstick pan. Also use a silicone spatula to stir as it scrapes the sides beautifully. Check out my Mawa cake with and without condensed milk. How about trying this gulab jamun on Diwali? You can also check on this simple bread burfi or gajar ka halwa or carrot khoya cake. Try it for your friends and family on this Diwali.
