Bittergourd Stir Fry
Please don’t make faces 🙂 This is not that bad. After all eating karela (Bittergourd) once in a while is indeed good for health.
Ingredients:
- Bittergourd 2 medium
- Onion 1 medium
- Salt to taste
- Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
- Red chilli powder 1 tsp
- Curry leaves 2 sprigs
- Mustard seeds 1/2 tsp
- Amchur powder 1/2 tsp
- Besan/gram flour 1 tbsp
- Refined oil 1-2 tbsp
Method:
- Wash the bittergourd and chop it finely. Also chop the onion into small pieces.
- Heat oil in a heavy iron kadhai and add the mustard seeds.
- When they splutter, add the curry leaves and onion.
- Saute well for 3-4 minutes. Add the chopped bittergourd and dry masala powder and salt.
- Cover and cook till it’s cooked well.
- Remove the lid and make the bittergourd crisp.
- Sprinkle besan and amchur powder and stir well till the besan is cooked.
- Serve it hot with steamed rice and dal.
