Whole Wheat Choco Cake
Inspired by Akshatha Manjunath‘s whole wheat tootifrooti cake, i tried to make a whole wheat chocolate cake loaded with choco chips. Maybe not as fluffy as a maida cake, but still quite nice for a rainy day indulgence
Ingredients:
- Whole wheat flour 125 gm (1 cup)
- Cocoa powder 15 gm ( 2 tbsp)
- Choco chips handful or as desired
- Baking powder 1/2 tsp
- Baking soda 1/4 tsp
- Powdered Sugar 1/3 cup
- Salt a pinch
- Oil 1/4 cup
- Yogurt plus water 3/4 cup
- Vanilla essence 1 tsp
Method:
- Preheat the oven at 180 degree celsius for 10 minutes.
- Sieve the whole wheat flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda and salt 8-10 times.
- Mix oil, yogurt mixture and sugar well.
- Add the essence and dry ingredients and mix gently till you get a smooth homogeneous mixture.
- Add the choco chips. Bake in a prepared cake tin for 25-30 minutes or till an inserted toothpick in the middle of the cake comes out clean.
- Remove from oven and wait for 5 minutes. Insert it on a wire rack and allow it to cool really well.
- Cut into pieces and serve warm.
