Burger Pizza
Burger and pizza both in one?? hmm… sounds interesting, right? This is what came to my mind too when I heard about it and saw an advertisement on television. But, it is quite simple to make and all you need is a basic bread/pizza dough, some pizza sauce, mayonnaise, few veggies of your choice, few seasonings and of course some grated cheese. Not convincing, ehh? Just read the recipe below to believe what I am saying 🙂
Ingredients:
For the base:
- Whole wheat flour 90-100 gm (3/4 cup)
- Maida 30-35 gm (1/4cup)
- Salt to taste
- Sugar 1/2 tsp
- Instant yeast 1/4 tsp
- Olive oil 1 tbsp
- Milk plus lukewarm water 1/2 cup minus 1-2 tbsp
For the stuffing:
- Mozarella/cheddar cheese 100 gm
- Onion 1 small
- Tomato 1 small
- Bell pepper few pieces
- Paneer cubes 2 tbsp (optional)
- Black and green olives 5-6
- Jalapenos to taste
- Mayonnaise 1 tbsp
- Oregano as required
- Chilli flakes 1 tsp
- Pepper powder to taste
Method:
Pizza sauce :
- Saute 2-3 finely chopped garlic, 1/2 of an onion and half a cup of tomato puree.
- Add little sugar, salt, chilli flakes, oregano and 1 tablespoon of tomato sauce.
- Cook well till it thickens. Pizza sauce is ready.
For the burger base:
- Mix all the dry ingredients including the instant yeast. Make a soft smooth and pliable dough using the milk and water mixture and oil.
- Knead for 10-12 minutes just like any bread dough. Keep the kneaded dough in an oiled bowl covered with cling film for an hour or more till it doubles in size.
- Gently punch the dough to knock out the gases and knead gently for a minute or so.
- The dough for making the burger base is ready. Divide the dough into four equal parts.
- Take 2 portions of the dough, each weighing 50-60 gm approximately and roll it into a 4 roti/disc of four inches in diameter.
- Apply pizza sauce and mayonnaise on one disc, sprinkle marinated paneer, veggies of your choice (onion, capsicum, olives, tomato etc ).
- Spread grated cheese, oregano and chilli flakes on top and cover it with the other disc. Apply some butter on top and sprinkle some more chilli flakes and oregano.
- Keep aside for 20-25 minutes. Bake at 180 degree celsius for 15-20 minutes. Remove from oven and cool on a wire rack.
- Burger pizza is ready to serve. Enjoy….
Notes:
- You can make two burger pizzas with the above proportion. Increase the measurements to make more of the same.
