Easy Orange Marmalade
After making the candied orange peel, I was left out with the pulp and was wondering how to utilise it (hubby and Neha, not a big fan of oranges). Then I casually thought of making some orange marmalade. Now I was quite happy to make a simple and hassle free one instead of a very long lasting and tedious one. On searching the internet for few recipes, I have made my own version and here it is. I am planning to use it in my dry fruits cake version II. I have used 240 ml cup.
Ingredients:
- Oranges 2
- Sugar 1/3 cup or more
- Orange zest 1 tsp
- Candied orange peel 4-5
Method:
- Wash the oranges thoroughly and pat it dry.
- Sterilize the bottle in which you will be storing the marmalade.
- Peel the oranges, deseed them and chop them roughly without wasting the juice and pulp.
- You can scrape the zest of one orange or half an orange if you are not too much a fan of the bitter orangy taste.
- You can even remove the white pith and take some parts of the skin too and chop it roughly. Or use some of the candied orange peel.
- Now blend the pulp and pour it in a heavy saucepan.
- Add the chopped skin, zest and sugar to the pulp and cook on a low flame for around half an hour stirring in between.
- When it looks cooked and jelly like, remove from heat and allow it to cool.
- Store in clean airtight containers.
Nice
Thank-you
